UPCOMING EVENTS
Prescribed Burn Training
The District hosted a prescribed fire workshop in Carson on February 27th with over 40 attendees. A big thank you to our partners the North Dakota Prescribed Burning Cooperative, North Dakota Wildlife Federation, and Pheasants Forever for their assistance putting on this event on a complex topic.
Thank you to our speakers Dr. Kevin Sedevic, Dr. David Toledo, Cara Greger, Chris Gordon, and Craig Larson. Topics discussed were the effects of burning on grass production and livestock performance, forming a prescribed burning association, how to safely conduct a burn and much more!
We also took a deep dive into the ins and outs of the prescribed burn that Jacob Tatro has planned for his property south of Carson this spring and the hands on training we will have available at his burn. If you would like to sign up to attend in April-May contact Sam Jensen at 701-301-0108.
If you are interested in learning more about bringing prescribed fire back to your landscape please stop in or call Sam Jensen for more information on learning opportunities and available cost share programs through the ND Prescribed Fire Cooperative.
Grazing Logic
Grant County Soil Conservation District partnered with the North Dakota Grazing Lands Coalition and organized a Grazing Logic seminar on February 4th, 2025, at the Lake Tschida Welcome Center. The attendance was fantastic, with an attendance of 80 people. There were also several door prizes distributed to the attendees. Bart Carmichael, Don Morga, and Elizabeth and Taylor Morical had an abundance of knowledge to share. Their expertise was so generously forthcoming. Everyone that helped in any way, we would like to extend our deepest gratitude, and we look forward to hosting future events!
